- From Haiphong , Madagascar to the US, through Cairo,London, Paris and Barcelona. Schooling was first in French, then boarding school in England.
Travelled a lot while a child-adolescent: Indian Ocean islands, Egypt, Africa, all of which left an permanent mark, contributing to my perspective-vision.
BA in Studio Arts. MA and PhD,
Final University: Rochester, NY.
The essence of my nature is nomadism...
It breeds a form of alienation that can be described as a dichotomy between engagement and detachment.
By merging life experiences with a mythological mind scape, I am able to create an elusive symbology.
I have a deep respect for the diverse cultures of this globe and their roots.
My focus is looking into culture roots and their ancient ways of expression.
Ancient ways of expression, that is art forms....Encaustic is one of my most used media.
I am interested in colours and their origins. I like the natural earth's colours... they vary from country to country.
I enjoy learning about plant pigments or dyes, which were used long before we got chemicals.... I like to stay at this level of doing Art with natural material.
My path takes detours and meanders through the knowledge of crafts and techniques that deal primarily with the natural world.
I am using encaustic. I am using natural pigments, I am using plant dyes.
For support I choose unprepared, unstretched canvas, or wood for encaustic.
My Art represents my own inner journey. bb
Born in Vietnam and raised in Madagascar, Busutil is
involved with a lifelong love story with Nature: its power in all senses.
Rainfall, windstorm, ocean storms, deep colors incredible skies and exotic smells.
A nomadic life leads her to become a nomad, rootless and comfortable to be so. the world becomes her place.
Every place is the opportunity for her starving curiosity and passion to learn.
It is also the opening of new doors, new ideas, new colours, sounds , which are immediately assimilated and integrated into her internal vocabulary.
The artist works using the old technique of Encaustic in new
ways.

From Africa to Vietnam,
differnet ways to use and create colours, natural stains, silk stains,
etc....
I like the diversity of grounds, the beauty of the material, linen for example and do not want to hide it with gesso!!.
